## Program

### Resin Geode Art Retreat
Pack your tools and a curiosity for layered work, because this resin geode art retreat with mixed media artist and educator Marcy Ferro will guide you through the full process of building geode artworks, from prep boards to the final clear coat. The retreat is built to give you both the technical foundation and the creative confidence to keep making geode art long after you head home.

Marcy will walk you through her method step by step, starting with the basics of resin types, colorants, crystals, and surfaces, and progressing through composition planning, color theory, layering, metallic accents, clear coats, and the small finishing touches that pull a piece together. You'll work alongside a group of 15 fellow artists, with daily demonstrations and individual feedback from Marcy throughout the retreat.

The retreat welcomes all levels of experience, though you'll benefit most if you already have some familiarity with resin art, as well as with Marcy Ferro's work and style of teaching.

Beyond the studio, venture on two trips that will take you out into the wider French countryside. A full-day trip will bring you to Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, a medieval town built into the gorges of the Aveyron, followed by an afternoon at Jardins de Quercy, a stunning French botanical garden. Another half-day trip to Cahors will give you a chance to visit Pont Valentré and board a riverboat for a tour along the Lot River.

By the end of the retreat, you'll go home with at least two finished geode artworks and the confidence to keep making them, plus the photography and display skills to turn your work into pieces ready to hang on a wall.

**The topics covered during your lessons will include:**

- Learning how to mix and color resin to create beautiful geode art pieces
- Building up layers to give your artworks real depth and dimension
- Working safely and confidently with resin
- Planning your design and composition
- Developing a color palette that feels personal and pulls the piece together
- Learning how to fix common resin mistakes
- Completing at least two finished geode artworks during the retreat
- Walking away with a resin art practice that combines technical skills with creative exploration
- ...and many more!

Stay on a private estate set across 75 acres of fields, forests, and manicured gardens in the heart of Lot-et-Garonne. Work in a light-filled converted barn studio, a smaller studio with garden access, or the piano room in the main house. The grounds include two ponds, a heated pool, walking trails, terraces, and a variety of outdoor seating areas perfect for sketching or quiet reflection. Between sessions, unwind in spacious ensuite rooms and comfortable shared spaces with views in every direction.

### Day 1: Arrival
Get transferred from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS) at 3:00 PM, arriving at the venue by 4:00 PM. Settle into your room, then join artist Marcy Ferro, your instructor for the week, and your fellow creatives for an orientation tour, exploring the gardens, the lovely terraces, the creative studio, and communal spaces.

Over a fabulous welcoming dinner, enjoy a relaxed conversation about the week ahead while savoring local flavors and a glass of regional wine.

### Day 2: Art at the venue
Wake up to a hearty breakfast and a steaming cup of coffee or tea, fueling your anticipation for a day of creativity and inspiration.

The adventure begins as you step into your first class, where you'll dive into the captivating world of resin art. Marcy will spark your imagination, introducing you to an array of resins, vibrant colorants, shimmering crystals, and a variety of surfaces. With her expert guidance, you'll prep your boards and get ready for the hands-on sessions that await.

After indulging in a flavorful lunch, return to the studio, re-energized and eager for the afternoon’s creative burst. Color theory and planning your geode layout will take center stage, with time built in to mix your first resin, glue down the initial stones, resin the smaller stones into place, and start arranging your composition.

As the class comes to an end, take some time to rest and recharge. Wander the estate grounds, take a swim in the heated pool, walk through the gardens, or unwind in your room. Gather with Marcy and your fellow artists for a delightful three-course dinner prepared by the private chef, paired with fragrant local wine and lovely conversation.

### Day 3: Trip to Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val and Jardins de Quercy
Wake up to a satisfying breakfast and a fresh cup of coffee, then get ready for what today has in store for you. Set out for Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, a medieval town tucked into the gorges of the Aveyron, with cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, riverside views, and a market that has run for centuries.

Wander the riverbank, take reference photos of the intricate medieval architecture, and gather color inspiration for your work back in the studio. Take a break for lunch and enjoy a flavorful lunch and coffee at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit Jardins de Quercy, a stunning French botanical garden blending traditional French gardening with contemporary design. Walk through the plant collections, take photographs, collect references for color flow, and notice the textures that might translate to your resin work back at the venue.

Return to the venue in the late afternoon and take some time to rest and unwind before dinner. Join Marcy and your fellow creatives for a delicious three-course dinner prepared by the in-house chef and paired with a glass of fine local wine and stories from the day's trip.

### Day 4: Art at the venue
Fuel up with a filling breakfast and a warm cup of coffee, easing into the gentle rhythm of the day.

Head to the studio for a morning art class. The focus of this class will be mixing the next layer of resin and colorants for the background of your first geode piece. Marcy will demonstrate how the layers begin to interact and build depth.

Take a relaxed lunch break and enjoy a refreshing meal, then continue the afternoon with another class. Marcy will walk you through making crystals, attaching stones to your second geode artwork, adding additional crystals, and dialing in how the elements work together.

Spend the late afternoon however suits you. Walk through the gardens, swim in the heated pool, take a nap in the shade, or work a little extra in the studio. Gather for a wholesome three-course dinner prepared by the private chef, paired with fragrant local wine and the company of your fellow artists.

### Day 5: Trip to Cahors with a riverboat tour
Enjoy a nourishing breakfast, then ease into the morning over coffee as you prepare for the day ahead.

Dive into a packed morning class focused on lines, accents, layering, and the finishing touches for your first geode artwork. During this class, Marcy will run you through types of markers, lines on your initial geode, adding metallic accents, and layering as desired. You will also apply the first clear coat and build the background of your second geode piece.

After a leisurely lunch, head out on a half-day trip to Cahors, the medieval capital of the Lot department. Visit Pont Valentré, a 14th-century fortified stone bridge that has stood for over 700 years, then board a riverboat for a tour along the Lot River, gathering color references, reflections, textures, and small details for later studio work.

Return to the venue in the late afternoon and take some time to relax before dinner. Gather with Marcy and the group for a chef-prepared three-course dinner, paired with a glass of aromatic wine and lively conversation about today's adventures.

### Day 6: Art at the venue
Greet the morning with a warm breakfast and a fresh cup of coffee, then head back to the studio for the morning class.

Marcy will guide you through the lines and clear coat on your second geode piece and then through the final touches on your first piece as it sets fully.

After a delicious lunch, settle into the afternoon class. This class will focus on photographing your resin art and learning how to display the finished pieces, so the work you take home looks as strong on a wall as it does in person.

Spend the late afternoon by the pool, in the gardens, on a walk through the surrounding countryside, or back in the studio for a little extra work. End the evening with a flavorful three-course dinner prepared by the in-house chef and paired with a glass of French wine.

### Day 7: Art at the venue
Savor a delicious breakfast with coffee or tea, then head into the last day of creation on the retreat.

Marcy will walk you through finishing your second geode piece, applying any last touches needed to bring the artwork together.

After a relaxed lunch, gather for the afternoon's celebratory mini-exhibition and closing circle. Lay out your two finished pieces alongside your fellow artists, share what each piece means to you, swap notes on technique, and reflect on what you have built throughout the week. Marcy will offer parting feedback and answer any final questions about continuing your resin art practice at home.

Take some time to recharge in the late afternoon. Come together one last time for a generous farewell dinner, accompanied by lively conversation, a glass of wine, a few last photographs, and a closing toast to the work you have brought to life and the friendships you have built.

### Day 8: Departure
Enjoy breakfast with Marcy and your fellow artists, and get ready for your transfer to Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, Toulouse (TLS). Check-out is at 10:00 AM, and you'll arrive at the airport at around 11:30 AM.
