The fortress is surprisingly well preserved and visitors walking its ramparts will feel drawn back to another time full of excitement, turmoil, and adventure. At the foot of Alcazaba lies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.andalucia.com\/cities\/malaga\/teatro-romano.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M\u00e1laga\u2019s Roman amphitheater<\/a>, a relic from the times of emperor Augustus in the first century A.D. After the Arabs used parts of the theater to consolidate the Alcazaba fortress, the theater was buried underground for centuries before its rediscovery in 1951.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conveniently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Alcazaba\/@36.7211348,-4.4158666,15z\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x84699d6bbfb8b267?sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjqxOCxw-P0AhUGgv0HHZqABs0Q_BJ6BAg3EAU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">located in the old town of M\u00e1laga<\/a>, both the fortress and the Roman amphitheater are extremely accessible and easy to include in any short visit to the city.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5.
