Day 1: Arrival

Arrive in New Delhi, get privately transferred and check in to your hotel accommodation.

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to New Delhi Airport for your scenic flight heading to the high elevation city of Leh. This one-of-a-kind experience will take you over the northern India heights and make you reach the breathtaking altitude of over 3,352 m / 11,000 ft. You will be transferred to the hotel accommodation in Leh and enjoy leisure time as you settle in and start to get acclimated.

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy some free time as your body continues to get accllimated to the high altitude of Leh. Take your time to explore the surroundings in the afternoon with a guided bird-watching session.

Take an immersive ride that will cross you over deserted Indian valleys until you arrive to Zingchan, the border of Rumbak Valley, homeland to the mysterious and unique snow leopards. You will start trekking in Rumbak Valley to reach your base tent camp for the future days. Get settled in your tent accommodation and wander through the village to immerse in local life, culture and traditions.

Engage in daily guided tours pursuing glimpses of the majestic inhabitant of the Himalayans, also known as the 'ghost of the Himalayas'. Your professional guides will do their best to find snow leopard tracks and hopefully, you will even get a rewarding glance of the dramatic 'gray ghost'. Your daily explorations of the village will enrich your experience and give you a true immersion in the local culture and spiritual values of local communities.

During this 14-day guided adventure in picturesque corners of India, you will spend four nights at three-star hotels in New Delhi and Leh.


The hotels booked in New Delhi and Leh offer clean and spacious double occupancy twin rooms, equipped with ensuite bathrooms with hot water, comfortable beds, free WiFi access, personal care products, towels, and bed linen.

You will spend nine nights at tented camps. Tent camping accommodation is clean and comfortable, outfitted for twin sharing. Mattresses, sheets, blankets, flush toilets, and hot showers are available.

Please note that amenities in rural parts of India are rustic and WiFi cannot be provided.

During this guided tour, you will be provided with three daily meals. Traditional Ladakhi meals will help you keep up with the physical effort and immerse in the local cuisine. Only breakfast will be provided while in New Delhi, leaving you broad possibilities to indulge in the local cuisine on your own.

Some dates book out fast so please make sure to make a reservation well in advance.

Please note that WiFi is only available at the hotel accommodation in Delhi. WiFi cannot be provided while camping in the wilderness.

What should I pack? 

Please make sure you pack light and bring: warm waterproof clothes and thermal clothes for good layered thermal isolation, trekking shoes, gloves, winter cap and light cap, sleeping bag, sunglasses, headlamp, spare batteries, thermos flask, sunscreen lotion, any personal medication and toiletries, mini first aid kid. What is the weather like in Rumbak? 

The village is based in a unique high elevation location and the best time to visit is April through October, when the weather is pleasant and the average temperatures range from 14°C / 57°F to 23°C / 73°F during the day and 8°C / 46°F to 16°C / 60°F during the night.


How many people are to be expected on the guided tour?

There are eight maximum spots available on each guided tour. The minimum number of spots required to get filled for the experience to take place is four.


Do I need a visa?

Yes, you will need a tourist visa. It costs approximately USD $70 for US citizens. Please contact us for further guidance.


Are there any age restrictions?

No restrictions whatsoever. However, please keep in mind that you must be 18 years of age to travel independently.


What language is used?

The experience is available in English. The local team understands and speaks basic English.


Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is mandatory. You must provide proof of your travel insurance on the first day of your trip. Please purchase a comprehensive policy from a trustworthy insurance company, with a recommended minimum coverage of USD $200,000. We strongly advise that your chosen policy provides cover against curtailment, lost or delayed baggage, loss of personal belongings, cancellations, trip interruptions, accidents, medical expenses, death, emergency repatriation, and personal liability.
