### Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at Angers (St. Laud) train station with enough time to catch the 4:00 PM group transfer, arriving at the beautiful château by 5:00 PM.

Upon arrival, you will meet artist Gustavo Ramos, your instructor for the week, as well as your fellow creatives. After settling into your comfortable room, take part in a lovely orientation tour to get familiar with the impressive estate, including its picturesque gardens, serene woodlands, historic salon, and cozy library.

In the evening, join Gustavo and the group for a special welcome dinner. Indulge in a delicious, three-course meal accompanied by a glass of aromatic French wine and delightful cheese platters.

### Day 2: Classes at the venue
Enjoy a hearty breakfast and a warm cup of coffee, then gather in the studio for your first art class of the retreat.

Gustavo will begin with brief introductions, followed by a live demonstration where he will paint from the model, allowing you to observe how he transforms visual information into a vibrant, dynamic likeness from the very first brushstroke. As you watch Gustavo work, you'll gain insights into his techniques and thought processes, providing a valuable foundation for your own artistic journey.

After a leisurely lunch, return to the studio for another art session in which you will paint at your own easel. Paint together with Gustavo from the live model, starting with a block-in and then moving to more details and layers as you advance in the painting. Gustavo will be there to offer you one-on-one guidance and feedback, helping you develop the early stages of your portrait.

As the class comes to an end, enjoy some spare time to unwind before dinner. Gather with Gustavo and your fellow artists for a delightful three-course dinner prepared by the private chef and accompanied by a cheese board of fine French cheeses and a glass of local wine, sharing first impressions from the first full day at the retreat.

### Day 3: Art trip to Saumur
Kick off the day with a wholesome breakfast and a warm cup of coffee, then gather your painting supplies for the first adventure of the retreat: a half-day trip to the medieval town of Saumur.

As you walk along this riverside town shaped by pale limestone, iron balconies, and steep rooftops, stop by the impressive Château de Saumur, a fortified castle that is now turned into a museum. Sketch if you feel inspired, or take reference photos, capturing the rustic charm of Saumur.

Head back to the venue for a satisfying lunch, then dive into an afternoon of painting from the live model. Gustavo will walk you through the principle of working from general to specific, building the largest forms first before honing in on detail, and he will offer you feedback and guidance throughout the class as you apply this approach to your own canvas.

In the late afternoon, take some time to reset before dinner. Sit down to a tasteful three-course dinner prepared by the in-house chef and paired with a glass of fragrant wine and French cheeses, sharing sketches from a morning spent painting in the Loire Valley.

### Day 4: Classes at the venue
Fuel up with a delicious breakfast and a fresh cup of coffee, then join Gustavo in the studio for a morning of painting from the live model.

Gustavo will demonstrate at his easel as you work at yours, further developing a beautiful portrait piece. As you work on your own portrait, Gustavo will offer guidance and one-on-one feedback to help you create a luminous piece and deepen your technique.

After a delicious lunch, return to the studio for an afternoon focused on fine-tuning shadow shapes and likeness. You'll have the opportunity to explore various techniques for capturing the essence of your subject, enhancing both your confidence and skills.

Take some time to recharge before gathering for a wholesome three-course dinner prepared by the private chef and paired with a glass of local French wine and a board of fine French cheeses. Soak in the lovely atmosphere and lively conversations, and share impressions from another day full of painting.

### Day 5: Art trip to Château de Villandry
After a generous breakfast and a warm cup of coffee, gather your painting supplies and head out for a full-day trip to Château de Villandry, a grand country house in the heart of Villandry, known for its spectacular gardens and avant-garde architecture.

Once the home of a noble family close to the French crown, the Château de Villandry has been shaped by centuries of history, culture, and transformations. Today, the gardens of the Château present a meticulous blend of geometry and bloom, a contemporary garden design showcasing seven different gardens. Immerse yourself in the surrounding nature and explore the Renaissance château and its seven meticulously designed gardens. Sketch if you feel inspired or take reference photos of the stunning nature that surrounds you.

Take a break for lunch and enjoy a packed picnic meal from the venue, then continue the afternoon by further exploring the gardens of Château de Villandry. Get inspired by the ripened Kitchen Garden, filled with all kinds of vegetables and fruit trees, or by the medicinal Herb Garden, where herbs such as rosemary, celery, mint, and oregano blend together in a symphony of aromas.

Return to the venue as the sun dips and take some time to unwind in the late afternoon. Gather with Gustavo and your fellow artists for a chef-prepared dinner accompanied by a glass of local wine and a board of delightful French cheeses.

### Day 6: Classes at the venue & wine-tasting event
Savor a warm breakfast and a fresh cup of coffee, then head into the studio for another morning of painting from the live model.

Gustavo will focus today on painting methods such as glazing, layers, and rich impastos, demonstrating how to build the luminosity and depth that give his portraits their signature glow. Paint at your easel alongside him, applying these techniques to your own portrait. Gustavo will be there to offer support and one-on-one feedback if needed.

After a relaxed lunch, continue painting under Gustavo’s gentle guidance. Practice the techniques from the morning, further adding depth and luminosity to your portrait piece.

As the afternoon winds down, enjoy some leisure time before dinner. Join Gutsavo and your fellow artists for a complimentary wine-tasting event at the château, led by a top local sommelier who spent six years working alongside chef Gordon Ramsay before returning to his native Loire.

Sit down to a nourishing three-course dinner prepared by the private chef and paired with a glass of the Loire Valley’s celebrated regional wine and some local French cheeses, trading insights and impressions from the day.

### Day 7: Classes at the venue
Settle in with a filling breakfast and a warm cup of coffee, ready to make every brushstroke count on your final full day.

Spend the morning finishing your paintings with Gustavo’s support, refining details and making final adjustments to bring your portrait to the level of luminosity you have been building toward.

After a leisurely lunch, gather with Gustavo and your fellow artists for a celebratory mini-exhibition and closing circle. Display your finished portraits side by side and take in the range of approaches that grew from the same live model and the same Loire Valley light. Exchange insights and feedback with the group and celebrate the progress you have made throughout the week.

As evening falls, take some time to freshen up before dinner, then gather for one last farewell dinner prepared by the in-house chef and paired with aromatic wine, raising a glass to the artistic discoveries made and unforgettable memories!

### Day 8: Departure
Enjoy a final breakfast with Gustavo and your fellow artists before it's time to part ways. Exchange any last contacts, then get ready for your 8:00 AM transfer to Angers (St. Laud) train station. You will arrive at the train station at around 9:00 AM.
