Day 1: Arrival

Your vacation begins with a private pick-up from Marrakesh or Essaouira airport and a car trip to your accommodation at Maison du Sud. Once you check in at the riad, you can enjoy a cup of mint tea while you explore your accommodation or maybe take a short walk around to get to know your surrounding area better. In the evening you will have dinner at the riad or at one of the local restaurants in the close vicinity.

Meals included: dinner

Your first photography lesson will focus on camera fundamentals. After breakfast you will have a one-hour seminar about exposure control and histograms used in photography.

After the seminar you may head to the markets in the city, have lunch and learn to shoot street photography or explore the medina in depth and get to learn how to use your camera to capture static scenery. You will review your work with your instructor in order to better understand what you might need to work on.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

The second workshop is designed to help you understand light, shade, texture, and angles involved in taking a quality photograph. There will be two abstract workshops in the medina and the city port where you will learn how to correctly use depth of field in photography. After lunch your instructor will conduct a review of your morning work and you will go to the port to catch some beautiful sunset photographs.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Portrait photography will make up most of today’s workshop. You will go in and around the medina and focus on taking photos of Essaouira’s workers: Thuya designers, Argan sellers or silversmiths.

In the afternoon you will do individual work for the next day and in the early evening, when dusk approaches, you will try to get some good shots of horse or camel riders outside the medina.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

You will go on a countryside trip, visit a local market in a Berber community and a women’s Argan cooperative. You will cover reportage photography and portrait photography, since all the visited locations are well-suited for both. In the afternoon you will have free time to enjoy as you wish.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

First part of the day will be spent at the riad reviewing images from previous days. You will then enjoy a presentation on reportage and documentary photography that will have the fishermen from the port as central subjects.

In the afternoon you will take part in individual tutorials and reviews of your work so far. The rest of the day can be spent roaming around the city and finding photographic opportunities in places you’ve explored so far.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Today will be a free day so you can explore all the places your previous classes did not take you to. You can also find extra local activities, such as take a cooking class, visit a hammam or go horse riding.

In the evening you will do a final review of the photo galleries you’ve built over the week and get a final review session before enjoying dinner.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

After breakfast you will be picked up by a private car and head to the airport.

Louise:

"Will was an excellent guide and was able to describe in detail the characteristics of the forest, as well as explaining lots of different foraging and wilderness techniques. I learnt so much and the tour was really entertaining. Cooking over an open fire and the lake swim at the end was magical. I was only in Sweden for a weekend so I absolutely recommend doing this trip even if you are just visiting for a city break, it was the highlight of my trip. I feel more confident to be more adventurous so I will definitely book another longer tour the next time I visit Sweden."

Mutlu:

"First we met William the founder of the True Nature Sweden who was very warm and welcoming. Meeting point was really easy to find. Before w start we had some problems with one of our gears and our guide helped us right away and get us fixed to our adventure. Hike and camping was super good, Sweden nature is amazing and we all had fun. These guys are so easy to connect and the definitely know what they are doing. We highly recommend True Nature Sweden. I am already planning to come back for a long survival course. Thank you for everything guys."

Daniel:

"We have the greatest respect for the owner of True Nature Sweden, William who graciously guided two completely inept city fools through a 4 day survival course. By the end of day 4 we felt liberated, educated and challenged but quietly confident of the skills William taught us. Thank you for such an enriching experience. Thanks to the team and particularly William for your patience, knowledge and positive attitude. We would highly recommend True Nature Sweden if you want to explore Sweden off the beaten track."

Natalia:

"We had a brilliant time with the team for the weekend survival course. William is so knowledgeable and makes learning vital survival skills so enjoyable. We've since taken ourselves out camping and used so much of what he taught us - it's opened up a whole new way for us to spend our weekend. Thanks guys!"
