Day 1: Arrival

You will be picked up from Mexico City International Airport and transferred to your accommodation at La Villa Bonita, where you will be welcomed with luscious cocktails crafted by Chef Ana. Take some time to settle in your authentic Mexican room and enjoy your first four-course gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Ana. Held in the open-air kitchen overviewing the incredible surroundings, dinner will be an excellent opportunity to meet your instructor and plan for the upcoming days.

Meals included: four-course dinner

Enjoy an abundant breakfast made by Chef Ana and then embark on a trip to the local market of Tepoztlán in search for fresh ingredients. You will get to meet Chef Ana's providers and wander through the enticing and appetizing food stalls. You will return to the accommodation and begin your first cooking session in the open-air kitchen of La Villa Bonita.

Recipes are seasonally changing, depending on the time of the year and local harvest, but for your first cooking session expect to learn and prepare the following: Mole Colorado with Chicken, Pork in Pipian sauce, Refried Beans, Classic Red Rice with Vegetables and Vanilla Flan.

Enjoy leisure time for the rest of the day and take a well-deserved siesta by the pool at La Villa Bonita.

Meals included: breakfast, four-course lunch

After Chef Ana's delectable breakfast, head to the local market to pick the freshest ingredients for the next cooking session. You will meet Chef Ana's local butcher and cheese vendor, her unspoken allies for delicious and unforgettable culinary experiences.

You can expect to learn how to prepare various 'guisados' (i.e. fillings) for Morelos quesadillas - squash blossoms, huitlacoche, fresh pork rinds in Green Tomatillos Salsa, potatoes, Chile Poblano Strips, just to tempt you with a few - and savory Mexican corn tortilla.

After a late lunch, enjoy your afternoon at leisure on the property of La Villa Bonita or wander the streets of the lively and scenic Tepoztlán.

Meals included: breakfast, four-course lunch

Savor your breakfast and embark on a day filled with glimpses of the Mexican culture. The pottery tour in Tlayacapan will offer you a demonstration of a local potter and show you how well preserved the traditional Mexican 'artesanias' (i.e. crafts) are.

Your tour will continue with an immersion in the typical day of the locals, and you will dive in a walking and eating tour in the Tepoztlán. You will explore farmer's market day with its myriad of aromas and delicacies. The famous Itacates de Tepoztlán, Pancita, juicy bites of Cecina (i.e. dried and smoked beef meat) and Morelos quesadillas await you for tasting.

Meals included: breakfast, four-course lunch

You will start you day with breakfast and then visit the Masa Mill to learn how to produce your own masa from locally grown corn.

Your day will continue with a lesson on how to prepare Tamale, the traditional Mesoamerican dish, garnished with miscellaneous types of stuffing. Prepare for a broad introduction in the origins and distinctions of Mexican liquors, accompanied of course by the tasting of Pulque, Mezcales, and several Tequillas, including its local interpretation, 'Refino'.

Meals included: breakfast, four-course lunch

Get introduced to Poblano Chile, the Mexican chili pepper, the main ingredient for Chiles en Nogada, the national dish of Mexico, and the centerpiece of this cooking session.

Chef Ana will show you different ways to prepare Poblano Chile, fresh and stuffed, blistered or dried, along complementary side dishes and Tres Leches Cake.

Mary, US:

“I remember both of my visits to La Villa Bonita for Dia de los Muertos with pleasure and have recommended the experience to friends. Your Tepoztlan site is simply the most beautiful and the celebrations in and around that small community so rich and rewarding.”

Stephen, US:

“My wife and I were looking for a different vacation then the typical beach vacation and we are so glad we chose La Villa Bonita Culinary experience. From the greeting by Andres at the airport to our welcome margarita and cheeses to our last guava strawberry margarita and every minute in between the 5 days here were tasty, memorable and fun. Chef Ana is an amazing host and guide to the culinary world of Mexican cuisine and passion for life, food and her culture. After our incredible meals we were guided through with help from Chef Anna and Maria for support we had 3 very unique and wonderful hikes. Also enjoyed the local ice cream, market tours, pyramid hike and occasional refreshing dip in the pool with a book to catch up on. View from the open kitchen / dining table is spectacular. Rooms clean, spacious and comfortable beds. Proactive housekeeping. My wife put a towel on the floor in addition to the floor mat already there and they added a second-floor mat in the bathroom for her! We also had tour of nearby charming pottery maker and picked up some lead-free unique pieces and serving dishes that were extremely reasonable in price. Looking forward to our return with friends and family.”

Rachel, US:

“I highly recommend this amazing culinary experience! We had the pleasure of cooking with Ana today in her amazing kitchen and it was a truly wonderful day. Ana so welcoming, warm and lovely, and she is an absolutely amazing teacher. We loved everything about the day, from the market tour to the cooking class and of course eating all the yummy food Ana taught us how to make! The kitchen itself is an open-air dream with the most amazing views out over the mountains. This is without a doubt the best cooking experience we've had in Mexico. Thank you, Ana, we hope we're able to come back one day”
