Wander through the magnificent scenery of UNESCO World Heritage site Lake District and receive intensive expert tuition to enhance your painting and drawing skills.
The painting workshop includes daily demonstrations, one-to-one tuition, and critique sessions. Under the guidance of professional painter Colin Halliday, you will be encouraged to exceed your creativity and express you own style and learn how to master light, space, tones and balance techniques, among many others.
During the painting retreat, you will stay in private accommodation. The houses are modernly refurbished and fully-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The properties have double rooms with private or shared bathrooms.
All meals are included during this painting vacation. You will enjoy buffet breakfasts, picnic lunches on painting locations, and abundant and tasty dinners at the accommodation.

Colin Halliday defined his expressive approach after many years of experimenting with various backgrounds. Colin completed his studies in Fine Arts and teaching, and his approach is focused on in depth discussions and individual guidance. Colin will be your tutor and will give you the opportunity to practice painting with oils, acrylic and mixed media, and encourage you to find your most suited medium and style.

What should I pack?
Please make sure to bring comfortable and warm clothing and shoes. Depending on the season, please bring sunscreen, a hat and insect repellent or a hat and fleece clothes to keep you warm during outdoor painting sessions. Guests are responsible for bringing their own art supplies. Please bring your own specialist materials, paint, paper, canvas, brushes (as much as travel plans allow). However, if travel is restrictive, or you don't know what you want to use, there are also supply packages available for sale onsite. What’s the weather like in the Lake District?
Weather in the Lake District is unpredictable due to rainfall. March through June is the driest period and October through January is the wettest period. Spring records average temperatures throughout the day of 16°C / 61°F and summer has average daytime temperatures of 16°C / 61°F. Autumn and winter are cold with daytime temperatures of around 12°C / 54°F, respectively 5°C / 41°F, whereas nighttime temperatures tend to get closer to 1°C / 34°F.
How many people are to be expected in a group painting session?
There is a maximum number of 10 participants. The minimum number for this experience to take place is 4.
Are there any age restrictions?
No restrictions whatsoever. Please keep in mind that you must be 18 years of age to travel independently.

Can my non-painting partner join me?
Yes. Designed for solo travelers, the program is also available to non-painting partners who can join the group at lunchtime, dinnertime or for daily excursions.
