What is UpTrek?
UpTrek is an online travel booking platform helping people discover and book exceptional travel experiences. We are experience-makers, hoping to help you go beyond the regular vacation checklists and bucket lists and treat travel as something it should have been all along: one of the most meaningful highlights of your life. We partner with handpicked and vetted locals on the ground, so that you may have all the best experiences right at your fingertips. Here is what UpTrek is all about.
How does booking with us work?
Step 1: Discover
Select your preferred start date, length of stay, and type of accommodation.

Step 2: Make a reservation
Pay a $100 deposit to secure your place. The balance is due 60 days before your arrival. Stay flexible with free cancellation up to 14 days before arrival.

Step 3: Instant confirmation
Once the deposit is paid, your reservation will be confirmed instantly.

UpTrek collects an exclusive $100 fixed per person deposit. The payment balance (i.e. total cost minus the deposit) is required 60 days before the date of arrival. If the booking is made 60 days or less prior to departure, full payment is due at the time of booking.

Alternatively, if you’re interested in one of our experiences, but have a couple of questions for us before booking, you can submit an inquiry at any time and we will get back to you with your requested information within 24 hours.
What does Best Price Guarantee mean?
At UpTrek, we work closely with each individual experience operator to offer you the best price possible, guaranteed. We update our prices daily to reflect exchange rate changes. If you find the same experience with a lower price displayed publicly online elsewhere, email us within 14 days of booking at [email protected] and we will match the price and refund you the difference. You will have to provide us with a valid link to the other offer. In order to qualify for a refund of the difference, the other offer must be for the exact same experience, with the same inclusions, the same accommodation, the same length, and the same arrival and departure dates. Our Best Price Guarantee policy does not apply to offers that are part of a loyalty program or limited time discounts, special promotions, and deals.
What payment methods do you accept?
We use PayPal for Business to make payments convenient, safe and secure. You can pay via credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Discovery Card) or Paypal.
Do you charge credit card fees?
UpTrek does not charge any fees for using a credit card when making a payment.
How will I know when my reservation is confirmed?
You will receive an email once your reservation has been confirmed. While most UpTrek experiences offer instant booking confirmation, some need to be approved by the operator of your chosen experience. You will receive an email once your booking has been confirmed. In the rare case your booking request is declined by the experience operator, your $100 deposit will be refunded. Alternatively, UpTrek’s travel experts are available to help you explore other options.
What happens after my reservation is confirmed?
After your reservation is confirmed, our customer support team will be there to answer any questions you might have. Your final balance will be due 60 days before the start date.
What happens if I need to cancel?
All UpTrek experiences have free cancellation. Full payment refunds (i.e. deposit and final balance) will be provided for cancellation up to 14 days before the date of arrival. Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the start date, failure to pay the final balance or no-show will result in no refunds. If the operator has to cancel the experience due to force majeure or failure to fill the minimum required spots, UpTrek will let you know as soon as possible, refund the total cost of the experience (deposit and final balance), and help you find another option for your vacation.
What if I need special assistance?

Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is mandatory for all UpTrek travelers. You must provide proof of your travel insurance on the first day of your trip. Please purchase a comprehensive policy from a trustworthy insurance company, with a recommended minimum coverage of USD $200,000. We strongly advise that your chosen policy provides cover against curtailment, lost or delayed baggage, loss of personal belongings, cancellations, trip interruptions, accidents, medical expenses, death, emergency repatriation, and personal liability
What if I get ill or injured on the trip and cannot continue?
Our experience organizers and partners on the ground are well trained to deal with these situations. In the unfortunate event that you get ill or injured, they will get you help as quickly as possible and make sure you have all the care you need. Your travel insurance should cover any costs incurred by illness and injury interruptions.
Can I opt out of certain activities?
Of course. If your desired experience offers some included or optional activities that you don’t want to participate in, you can opt out and do your own thing instead. Some experiences can be tailored to suit your needs, others – specifically weight loss and wellness programs – might not show the desired results if you do not follow the schedule to a tee. If you choose to skip a certain activity or excursion, please note that included activities will not be reimbursed.
