Day 1: Arrival

Arrive in Granada and get transferred from the Federico García Lorca Granada Airport (GRX) to the accommodation. Take your time to settle in and meet the tutor and your fellow artists.

You will receive an introductory course into oil painting covering theory, color mixing techniques, brush strokes, thin and thick layering, followed by the first painting class.

The spectacular Andalusian landscapes will be your devoted muse throughout this painting vacation. Spend your morning exploring Moclín's surroundings in search for glimpses of inspiration before a full day of painting, interrupted only by the tasty lunch awaiting at the accommodation.

Take a trip to Granada's Museo de Bellas Artes and discover various artistic expressions. The museum visit will be followed by an authentic tapas lunch in Granada, just in time to gather your energy for the afternoon painting lessons back in Moclín.

During your painting vacation, you will be accommodated at Centro de Interpretación Comarcal. Originally a barracks for Guardia Civil, the property was refurbished into a lodging equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.

Rooms are available for single occupancy and no single supplement is required. Please get in touch for special painting partner rates.

For the duration of the painting vacation, you will get a taste of the authentic Andalusian cuisine prepared by a professional cook. Depending on the itinerary, lunches will be served on location or at the accommodation. All meals are included.

The painting vacation takes place in Moclín, a picturesque hilltop village situated in the province of Granada, only a 35-minute drive from the city of Granada.

Paul Finn
Art Tutor

Paul has comprehensive studies in Fine Art. He graduated from Ravensbourne School of Art with First Class Honors and continued to pursue his artistic education studying as a postgraduate at the Slade School of Fine Art. He was offered the Brinkley Fellowship at Norwich Art School soon after finishing his Masters Degree. Paul is a professional painter and teacher with more than 40 years of experience, he was involved in projects all over the world. He has exhibited with The New English Art Club, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, and the London Group. His artworks have been widely exhibited in Europe and the Far East.

The painting vacation is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced painters.

When is the painting vacation available?

The painting vacation in Spain is available between April 4 – 11, 2020. Please get in touch to check availability.

Yes, the retreat is well suited to host people with limited mobility.

What should I pack? 

Please make sure to bring comfortable and warm clothing and shoes, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent, toiletries and any personal medication you might need.

Is any equipment provided?

Yes. During the painting sessions you will be provided with all art materials and needed equipment.

What’s the weather like in Moclín? 

Moclín in April is warm, with average daytime temperatures of 18°C / 64°F. Nighttime temperatures drop to 3°C / 37°F.

Can my non-painter partner join me?

Yes. Designed for solo travelers, the program is also available to non-participating partners who can join the group at lunchtime and dinnertime or for daily excursions. Please get in touch for a special non-participating quote.

How many people are to be expected in a group session? 

There is a maximum number of 6 participants.

Do I need a visa?

Guests traveling from EU and/or Schengen member states may enter Spain for up to 90 days for tourist purposes without a visa. Please contact us for further guidance.

Are there any age restrictions?

Absolutely not. However, please keep in mind that you must be 18 years of age to travel independently.

What language is used during painting sessions and other activities?

The entire experience is available in English.
