Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Vallarta

Arrive at Puerto Vallarta Airport and get transferred to the hotel by your gracious host, Jane. Meals included: dinner • This is a tentative itinerary. Activities and daily schedule might be subject to change.

Kick off the day in style with a continental breakfast at the hotel (between 8:00 a.m. and 09:00 a.m.), then take a 2-hour scenic drive north to Casa Buena, your serene retreat 'headquarters' located in Los Cocos, Nayarit. Stop at La Panita Art Market and enjoy a light lunch on the beach. Spend the rest of the day settling in at Casa Buena and setting up your work space. Meet your instructor, painter Sheree Jones, for a demo followed by dinner.

Get an early start at 6:30 a.m. and some light breakfast, then embark on a 2-hour organized tour to the Jungle, between 7:00 a.m - 9:00 a.m. The motor boat trip will take you trough an exotic tunnel of overhanging mangrove branches, where iguanas and tropical birds take refuge. After the tour, take a short drive, explore the Old Fort and stroll along the streets of the port city of San Blas, beautifully captured by poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: "What say the Bells of San Blas / To the ships that southward pass / From the harbor of Mazatlan? / To them it is nothing more / Than the sound of surf on the shore--". Just as Longfellow put it, the bells of San Blas are a voice of the past, a lot more today than they were over a century ago. Take in the ever-present Colonial period atmosphere and the glimpses of history revealed at every corner.

Should you feel like it, you can do some shopping in San Blas, then head to the beach for lunch. Take the rest of the day to rest and relax at the pool or at the beach. Enjoy the hacienda-style terrace that wraps around the Casa, offering splendid views of the surrounding gardens and the crystal-clear ocean. You can skip relaxation and return to the studio to continue painting. Dinner is served at Casa Mañana.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner • This is a tentative itinerary. Activities and daily schedule might be subject to change.

Join the group for a meditation session at 7:30 a.m. (optional), followed by breakfast between 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., then get ready for your second painting workshop with artist Sheree Jones (9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a short break for lunch). After the workshop, Sheree and Jane will put together a critique session washed down with Happy Hour pre-dinner drinks.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner • This is a tentative itinerary. Activities and daily schedule might be subject to change.

Start your day with a meditation class at 7:30 a.m. (optional). After breakfast, join Sheree for more painting both in the studio and en plein air at the beach or on location in one of the surrounding villages. The workshop starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m., with a short lunch break around noon. After Happy Hour and a well-deserved siesta, freshen up and join Sheree and Jane for a party with local artists at the Casa.

Start your day with morning Yoga (optional) followed by breakfast, then get ready for your final painting workshop between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. After Happy Hour, siesta and some free time, join Sheree, Jane and the rest of the group for a farewell dinner. End the day on a high note with a session of 'Art Show and Tell'.
