The villa offers exclusive access to a sea-facing studio, welcoming common areas, and a refreshing infinity pool, providing plenty of space to work and relax. You’ll enjoy two exciting trips: one to the historic Zante Town and another to the renowned Shipwreck Beach—both of which offer inspiring cultural experiences that you can translate into your artwork. Outside of your art sessions, unwind by the pool, savor Greek cuisine prepared by a private chef, and bond with an intimate group of fellow artists over a glass of local wine. Please note: The retreat venue is located on terraced grounds, with access to the studio, common areas, and accommodations requiring the use of stairways. The beach can be reached by descending a steep stairway of approximately 50 meters (164 feet). Additionally, the excursions involve moderate walking, so this retreat may not be ideal for those with limited mobility.

### Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at Zakynthos Airport for your 3:30 PM transfer to a breathtaking seafront venue overlooking the Mediterranean. Settle into your elegant room and take a moment to recharge before joining a guided tour of the grounds. Discover the inviting pool, the shala art studio, and thoughtfully designed communal areas. In the evening, savor a delightful three-course welcome dinner in the lively company of your fellow artists. Enjoy a glass of wine with Emma and the group and make plans for the week ahead.

### Day 2: Art at the venue
Start your morning with a delightful breakfast and a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Join a brief check-in with Emma and the venue hosts, then get ready for the first class of the retreat.Begin your morning in the shala studio, where soft light and calm surroundings set the tone. Emma will guide you through foundational watercolor techniques, starting with how to load your brush properly and control the movement of water on the page. You’ll work on blending clean gradients, building rich washes, and understanding how colors interact without becoming muddy. Try out different brushes, test how pigment behaves at different strengths, and learn how to create harmony in your palette. This session is focused, hands-on, and designed to help you slow down and really see what you're doing. After a light lunch, return to the studio to prepare for tomorrow’s visit to Navagio Beach. The afternoon session shifts toward landscapes, using the fresh floral arrangements around the house as live references. Emma will guide you in translating what you see into loose, expressive watercolor studies. You’ll focus on color matching, brushwork, and learning to trust your hand. Quick sketches and layered marks will help you loosen up and connect the morning’s technique work with direct observation.Wrap up the day with some quiet time before dinner. Enjoy a relaxed meal with the group, reflect on the day’s progress, or simply take in the view as the sun fades and the evening settles in.

### Day 3: Boat trip to Navagio Beach
Enjoy a refreshing breakfast and a warm cup of coffee on the terrace. Prepare for the first trip of the retreat, pack your camera, and step into the day with a clear head as you head toward the sea.Spend the morning exploring the Zakynthian coast by boat. Depart from Porto Vromi and glide across clear water, passing sea caves and sharp cliffs that rise straight from the waves. Let the sound of the boat and the scent of salt ground you in the moment. When you arrive at Navagio Beach, take time to observe the shapes and shadows of the landscape. The rusted wreck sits quietly on the sand, surrounded by limestone walls and shifting light. Take photos, make rough sketches, or just look. The textures, lines, and colors here will feed your painting practice back in the studio. After returning to Porto Vromi by boat, enjoy a relaxed lunch and some time to rest before heading back to the studio. In the afternoon, you’ll revisit the paintings you began yesterday, working from the morning’s references. Let the shapes of the cliffs, the soft fade of the water, or the broken lines of the shipwreck guide your next marks. Emma will help you focus on color choices and how to simplify what you saw into a study that keeps the feeling without getting lost in detail. Start with a loose background, then build a layered shadow study based on a flower form, blending what you remember with what you see. The goal is clarity without overthinking and using what inspired you to shape what comes next.Later, spend some quiet time however you like. Swim, rest, and walk to the beach. As the sun drops lower, gather for a filling meal and a glass of wine, and ease into the evening with the rhythm of the day still in your hands.

### Day 4: Art at the venue
Ease into the day with a relaxed breakfast and a steaming cup of coffee, letting the quiet rhythm of the morning ground you.In the morning, Emma will lead a focused sketching session around the property. She will show you how to explore the space from different angles, encouraging you to find fresh perspectives that bring movement and interest to your compositions. You will sketch traditional Greek architecture, winding garden paths, and views of the sea framed by trees and stone walls. Emma will guide you in using simple shapes and lines to capture structure while observing how light shifts across surfaces to create depth and texture. After lunch, regroup in the studio to bring your sketches to life with watercolor. Working from the drawings you created in the morning, you will begin layering color and exploring a looser, more expressive style. Emma will encourage you to let go of precision and instead respond to the energy of your lines. Use water and pigment to create softness and movement, allowing the natural forms of the landscape and flora to shape your choices. You will work intuitively, blending observation with memory to develop a more personal visual language.Spend the rest of the afternoon as you like. Wander the garden, swim in the pool, walk down to the beach, or find a quiet spot to rest. As the sun begins to set, gather for a filling dinner and slow conversation, letting the day close with calm and clarity.

### Day 5: Trip to Zante Town
Begin the day with a gentle breakfast and fresh coffee. Prepare your materials, and get ready for the second trip of the retreat.Take a short ride to Zante Town, the capital of Zakynthos. Walk through streets lined with old stone buildings, sun-faded shutters, and narrow balconies draped with bougainvillea and roses. The air is warm and slow, and the shadows shift across archways and steps. Sketch what catches your eye, take reference photos, or simply watch how the light moves. Look for color in unexpected places and pay attention to the shapes of rooftops, plants, and windows. The town has its own rhythm, and you’re here to notice it.Return to the venue for a nourishing lunch and a moment to rest before heading back to the studio. In the afternoon, join Emma for a watercolor session. Using your sketches or photos from the morning, begin building a composition that draws from what you saw. Emma will guide you in working loosely, focusing on color choices, balance, and mark-making. You will use soft layers, rich tones, and fluid lines to reflect your own response to the morning walk. This is about painting what you remember, not copying what you saw.Spend the rest of the day as you like. Swim, nap, wander the gardens, or sit with your sketchbook. In the evening, come together for a quiet dinner, a glass of wine, and whatever conversation the day brings.

### Day 6: Art at the venue
Refuel with a tasty breakfast and a cup of coffee, then get ready for another full day of classes with Emma at the venue.Spend the morning exploring the grounds with your sketchbook or camera in hand. Walk the garden paths, step through the shaded terraces, and take in the way light hits the walls and plants. Look closely at the colors and textures of the Greek flora, from the twisting olive branches to clusters of herbs, wildflowers, and vines climbing over stone. Take your time. Make loose sketches, snap reference photos, or simply pay attention. This quiet time outdoors helps you build a deeper connection to your surroundings before heading back to the studio. After a light lunch, return to the studio for a focused watercolor session with Emma. Using your morning references, you’ll work on translating natural forms into layered, expressive paintings. Look at the way petals overlap, how leaves curl, or how shadows stretch across surfaces. Emma will help you notice those small shifts and guide you in painting them without losing softness or flow. Focus on building texture with water and pigment, making color choices that feel grounded in what you saw, and letting your brushwork stay open and intuitive. As the light fades, take some time to rest or keep painting at your own pace. In the evening, gather for a slow dinner and relaxed conversation. Let the day settle into memory while the table fills with food, stories, and the comfort of being around others who have spent the day creating too.

### Day 7: Art at the venue
Share a quiet breakfast and take a moment to reflect on everything you’ve created so far. Then return to the studio for your final morning class with Emma. The morning is focused on bringing your paintings to a close. Spend time finishing the details of your floral and landscape pieces, adding those last marks that bring the work together. Emma will move through the space to offer one-on-one guidance, helping you make small adjustments, talk through any questions, and feel more grounded in your process. As you paint, you’ll also have space to reflect on how the retreat has shaped your way of seeing and how to carry that into your work at home. Emma will share thoughts on keeping a regular creative rhythm, building mindful habits, and staying connected to what surrounds you. After a relaxed lunch and some spare time, return for a quiet group gathering. You’ll take part in a simple exhibition of the week’s artwork. Lay your pieces out, walk through the space, and share thoughts with your fellow painters. Emma will offer insight and feedback, but the focus is on seeing what each person created and how they’ve grown. There’s no pressure to present or explain, just a moment to notice how the work has taken shape. As the light fades, gather for a final dinner. Eat well, enjoy live Greek music, and join in the kind of dancing that comes from being fully present. Laugh, toast, and let the evening unfold in its own rhythm, full of warmth, color, and the kind of connection that stays with you long after the retreat ends.

### Day 8: Departure
Enjoy breakfast with your art group and get ready for your transfer to Zakynthos Airport (ZTH). Check-out is at 10:00 AM, and you'll arrive at the airport at around 10:30 AM.

That is saying a lot about the character and hearts of Karen and David! It reflected in everything and everyone whom works there. That is why it works so well, as David says, that's Living, doing what you love! Thank you to all for the fond memories ;)""The venue is beautiful. Waking up to see the sunrise was a perfect way to start the day. Food was authentic and delicious. We had some hot days in the studio, but apparently, this was a heat wave, but otherwise, it worked well. Staff was genuinely sweet and accommodating, and hard working. It was interesting to experience the Greek way of life. Our hosts cared about every detail. I enjoyed it so much that I will return next year and bring my daughter.
