Lindsay will demonstrate techniques for expressive sketching that you can return to throughout the retreat. Later in the afternoon, work on watercolor mini-scenes inspired by the gardens and nearby landscape. Practice layering color and building form with fluid brushwork. Conclude with a plein-air painting session in the garden, sketching and painting whatever catches your eye as the afternoon light settles in.Wrap up the day with some quiet time before dinner. ### Day 3: Boat trip to Navagio Beach
Enjoy a refreshing breakfast and a warm cup of coffee on the terrace. Pack your sketchbook, pencils, and camera, then head out with a clear mind toward the sea.Spend the morning exploring the coast of Zakynthos by boat. Depart from Porto Vromi and move across calm, clear water, passing sea-carved caves and tall cliffs that rise straight from the shoreline. Let the rhythm of the boat and the scent of salt help you slow down. When you reach Navagio Beach, take time to observe the light on the limestone walls and the way the rusted shipwreck sits quietly in the cove. Make loose sketches, collect colors with your camera, or simply sit and look. Let this place settle into your memory.Return to Porto Vromi by boat, then enjoy a relaxed lunch and a bit of rest before heading back into the studio. In the afternoon, begin a still life session with Lindsay, drawing from both natural references and the textures, shapes, and colors you gathered earlier in the day. Work on a larger sheet to create a detailed botanical or coastal-inspired piece. Explore how flowers, stones, shells, or found shapes from the morning can come together in a personal composition. Lindsay will offer individual guidance to help you bring focus and feeling into your work.Later, take quiet time however you like. Swim, rest in the garden, or take a walk to the beach. As the sun begins to set, come together again for a filling evening meal and enjoy the ease of the day as it comes to a close.

Add new pages to your handmade sketchbook using simple bookbinding techniques Lindsay will walk you through. Let the colors and textures around the estate guide your choices as you build layered pages inspired by the natural setting and the techniques you've practiced throughout the week. After a full morning of sketching, enjoy a relaxed lunch. Then return to the studio or garden space for the afternoon session, where Lindsay will offer personal feedback on your work. Focus on refining earlier sketches, adding color, adjusting details, and thinking about how each page flows as part of a larger visual journal. Continue working on your handmade book if you’ve created one, paying attention to how your content begins to build rhythm across the pages.Use the rest of the afternoon however you like. Walk through the garden, take a swim, rest in the shade, or continue working quietly on your own. In the evening, gather again for a filling dinner and unhurried conversation as the light fades and the day draws to a close.

Prepare your sketchbook, pencils, and pens, and get ready to head out for the second trip of the retreat.Take a short ride to Zante Town, the capital of Zakynthos. Walk slowly through its quiet streets, where stone buildings, sun-worn shutters, and small balconies are draped with flowers. Look for color, texture, and rhythm in the rooftops, windows, and garden corners. Sketch whatever catches your eye or take reference photos to use later. Focus on quick impressions and the way light moves across surfaces as you explore.Return to the venue for a nourishing lunch and take a bit of time to rest before the afternoon session begins. In the afternoon, meet with Lindsay to continue filling your sketchbook pages. Use your sketches or photos from the morning to develop new spreads. Lindsay will guide you through color layering, brush control, and thoughtful mark-making as you reimagine what stood out to you earlier.
