# Wendy Hollender
*Botanical artist, illustrator, and art instructor*

Wendy Hollender is a botanical artist, illustrator, instructor, and author based in Accord, New York. She is one of the world's leading experts in using colored pencils and watercolor pencils to create detailed botanical drawings and paintings. Her illustrations have been published in the New York Times, O, The Oprah Magazine, Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, and Martha Stewart Living, and her work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions including the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation.

Having obtained a BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration from the New York Botanical Garden, Wendy has built a decades-long career at the intersection of art, nature, and education. She is a longtime instructor at the New York Botanical Garden and leads workshops at her farm in Accord, New York, as well as at the National Tropical Botanical Garden in Hawaii, in Greece, and at botanical gardens, arts centers, and nature preserves across the country and beyond. She is also the founder of Draw Botanical, an online platform offering step-by-step video courses in botanical illustration to a global community of artists. She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, and the National Tropical Botanical Garden Florilegium of Artists.

Wendy is also the author of four books on botanical drawing, including "The Joy of Botanical Drawing," "Botanical Drawing in Color," "The Practice of Botanical Drawing," and "Botanical Drawing: A Beginner's Guide," as well as the illustrator of "Foraging & Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook" by Dina Falconi.

Her approach to teaching is rooted in the belief that drawing plants is both a skill and a practice — one that cultivates patience, observation, and a deeper connection with the natural world.
