# Sushma Hegde

Sushma Hegde is a self-taught artist, author, and educator based in Luxembourg. Originally from India, she loves painting nature, especially flowers and landscapes. She is known for her loose and expressive approach to watercolor. After nearly ten years working as an automotive engineer, Sushma made the leap to pursue art full-time and has since taught more than 30,000 students worldwide through her online classes.

Sushma is the bestselling author of two watercolor instruction books. Her book "Wildflower Watercolor: The Beginner's Guide to Painting Beautiful Florals" teaches a simple and approachable way to paint flowers, with 30 projects that explore color mixing, brushwork, and how to simplify different floral shapes. She is also the author of a watercolor landscape book (currently available in German), featuring 25 step-by-step landscape projects inspired by nature and the changing seasons.

Sushma teaches advanced watercolor floral techniques through her signature course, Watercolor Floral Sanctuary, an 8-week program with more than 27 hours of in-depth video tutorials, extensive reference images, weekly live Q&A sessions, and a private student community.

At the heart of Sushma's teaching is a "no gatekeeping" philosophy: sharing every technique and insight she's gained over her artistic journey, so students can move past step-by-step imitation and build the confidence to paint any flower, from any angle, in their own style.
