# Sarah Grace Simas

Sarah Grace Simas is a fashion and textile designer whose work centers on innovative fabric manipulation, intricate beading, and detailed hand-sewing techniques. Currently a senior but soon to be graduate of North Carolina State University, she will obtain her degree in May 2027 in Fashion Textile Design, where she developed a multidisciplinary approach bridging garment construction with experimental textile development.

During her time in the program, she designed three full fashion collections, one of which was featured in an international runway show in Scotland. Sarah Grace has also expanded her studies internationally, attending both Central Saint Martins in London and Parsons Paris, experiences that allowed her to further refine her creative voice while exploring global perspectives on fashion and textile design.

With over seven years of sewing experience, Sarah Grace has built a strong technical foundation in pattern making, draping, and digital garment development while also cultivating a deep interest in textile creation. Her background includes designing patterned fabrics through jacquard weaving and machine knitting, giving her a unique understanding of textiles from fiber to finished garment. Her work is characterized by a focus on thoughtful craftsmanship, emphasizing hand-sewn details, embroidery, and the use of unexpected or unconventional materials to create distinctive surface textures and fabric manipulations.

Sustainability is also central to her practice; she frequently experiments with techniques that minimize fabric waste and incorporates secondhand, repurposed, and natural materials that align with environmentally conscious design practices. Through both her design work and the workshops she leads, Sarah Grace encourages others to engage with textiles in a hands-on way, exploring creative processes that celebrate slow making, experimentation, and the joy of crafting by hand.
