# Rosalie Haizlett
*Nature illustrator, author, and educator*

Rosalie Haizlett is an illustrator, author, and educator whose work celebrates the hidden wonders of the natural world. From vibrant watercolor art prints to illustrated nature books, her art is rooted in close observation and a deep appreciation for the landscapes and ecosystems around her. She is the author and illustrator of "Watercolor in Nature" (Page Street Publishing) and "Tiny Worlds of the Appalachian Mountains" (Mountaineers Books), and her clients include Smithsonian, The Washington Post, Patagonia, The Nature Conservancy, Audubon, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Rosalie teaches workshops in person and online, and as a Top Teacher on Skillshare she has taught more than 60,000 people how to paint the natural world. Her teaching is grounded in the belief that creativity and observation go hand in hand and that anyone can learn to see and celebrate the nature that surrounds them.

Her artist residencies include Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the National Audubon Society at Hog Island, Desert National Wildlife Refuge, and the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History. In 2022 she was awarded the Eckelberry Fellowship for distinguished wildlife illustrators by the Drexel Academy of Natural Sciences, and her solo exhibitions include the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden (2026), the North Carolina Arboretum (2025), the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences (2024), and the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History (2024).

Rosalie lives on the edge of Monongahela National Forest in Elkins, West Virginia, where she runs a studio and shop called Meander. Her mission is to notice and creatively celebrate the hidden wonders of the natural world, and she brings that same spirit of curiosity and wonder to every retreat.
