Born in Sydney in 1965, Claremont's artistic journey began at a young age, and continued with a degree in Visual Arts from Sydney College of the Arts, where he majored in painting. His unique path saw him transitioning from a postman, where he painted street scenes in an old cigar box during deliveries, to achieving fame as the "Painting Postie" on television. This marked the beginning of a flourishing art career that led him to win major art prizes, exhibit in Paris, and secure a spot among Australia’s Top 100 List of Collectable Artists.Beyond his personal art practice, Claremont is a gifted educator, having founded The Skilled Artist in 2020, an online art school that connects over 1,500 students worldwide. His teaching philosophy, rooted in the belief that developing an art practice is akin to cultivating a tree—where growth and pruning go hand in hand—has inspired many.
