# Pamela Caughey

Based in Hamilton, Montana, Pamela Caughey is a distinguished full-time studio artist and teacher renowned for her versatile approach to art. Originally from Wisconsin, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from UW-Madison in 1983, Pamela shifted her focus to the arts after moving to Montana in 1986. Her serious pursuit of art culminated in 2010 when she received an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Montana School of Art. She explores a variety of media, with a particular interest in cold wax/oil, encaustic, mixed media, and acrylic.Pamela Caughey's artistic ethos is driven by a profound engagement with abstraction, experimentation, and critical analysis. She views the artistic process as an invitation to explore, challenge, and refine ideas from multiple perspectives. This relentless pursuit of discovery and excellence fuels her commitment to her craft. Caughey's work is celebrated in numerous prestigious collections, including the Missoula Art Museum, the Holter Museum of Art, and the Nicolaysen Museum of Art. She is also featured in the acclaimed book "Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts, Conversations" by Rebecca Crowell and Jerry McLaughlin.
