Michelle Dunaway is an American artist known for her expressive portraits and figure paintings that capture the depth and beauty of the human spirit. Her confident brushwork and ability to convey emotion have earned her international recognition, with features in Fine Art Connoisseur, Art of the West, American Art Collector, and Southwest Art.Dunaway's paintings have been exhibited in Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. Her work has won awards and honors in the Portrait Society of America’s International Portrait Competition, as well as the Art Renewal Center. She mentored with acclaimed artist Richard Schmid, who once described her as “a force in this movement toward excellence in painting.”Alongside her studio career, Dunaway is an engaging and widely respected instructor. She has taught and demonstrated for art organizations and events across the United States and abroad, including the Portrait Society of America’s annual conference. Artists travel from around the world to study with her for her direct, insightful teaching and her dedication to helping painters refine both their technical skill and artistic voice.Her paintings are represented by InSight Gallery (TX), Legacy Gallery (AZ, MT), and Sage Creek Gallery (NM), and are held in private collections throughout North America and Europe.Artist Statement"To me, the extraordinary resides in the everyday moments of life.
