# Laura Raborn
*Figurative painter and art educator*

Laura Raborn is a contemporary figurative painter based in Little Rock, Arkansas, whose work explores the complexities of human connection, perception, memory, and identity. Combining expressive drawing, painting, and layered text, her work invites viewers to reconsider how they see one another and the assumptions they bring to every encounter. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout the United States and the Bahamas, earning numerous awards and appearing in publications including "Women Make Arkansas: Conversations with 50 Creatives."

After earning a BA from Rollins College, Laura worked in marketing before pursuing formal art training through the Arkansas Arts Center and later completing a Master's degree in Art at UA Little Rock. Her artistic practice has been further shaped by prestigious residencies at the Women's International Study Center in Santa Fe, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Breck Create in Colorado. Today, her work is represented by Justus Fine Art in Arkansas and Princess Street Gallery in Harbor Island, Bahamas.

Alongside her studio practice, Laura is a passionate educator who has taught drawing, painting, and mixed media workshops at respected institutions across the United States and internationally. She has also served as a visiting instructor at various art schools, such as Crystal Bridges Museum in Arkansas and the Ah Haa School for the Arts in Colorado. Through workshops focused on expressive mark-making, composition, color, and mixed media processes, she encourages artists to embrace experimentation while strengthening their technical foundations.

At the heart of Laura's teaching is the belief that making art is a way of thinking, questioning, and discovering. She helps artists move beyond simply replicating what they see, encouraging them to develop a personal visual language through observation, curiosity, and meaningful creative exploration. Whether introducing new materials or guiding experienced artists toward deeper conceptual work, Laura creates an encouraging environment where students can build confidence, take creative risks, and develop work that feels uniquely their own.
