# Johanne Bossmann

Johanne Bossmann is a contemporary artist based in Cologne, Germany. She creates meditative paintings in a watercolor-like style, using fluid acrylic paint on canvas. After many years building and running her own bridal fashion label, Johanne came back to painting during a time of deep personal change. What started as a quiet, intuitive practice soon became a lifeline, helping her slow down, reconnect, and find stability again.

Johanne's signature technique is as distinctive as it is calming. Working with heavily diluted acrylics on raw canvas, she builds translucent layers that evoke the softness of watercolor, often painting with her hands rather than brushes, letting landscapes, waves, and atmospheric spaces emerge and dissolve. Her work moves between abstraction and landscape, suggesting natural forms without fixed narratives. Her paintings are collected internationally, mainly in the United States, as well as in Australia, Hong Kong, Brazil, Canada, and across Europe and Israel, and she is represented by ARTS Gallery in the Netherlands. Her work has also been exhibited at Galerie BDMC in Paris.

Her return to painting led her to study art therapy alongside her artistic practice, and ideas from these studies flow into her teaching through simple exercises, reflective prompts, and techniques that support presence, self-regulation, and trust in the creative process. She shares tutorials through her Patreon community, offering insights into her meditative way of painting alongside selected exercises and inspiration.

At the heart of Johanne's teaching is the belief that the journey matters as much as the destination. For her, the process is as important as the finished painting, often even more so. Her practice is rooted in the healing power of creative presence, combining mindfulness, process-oriented creation, and minimalist landscape. She guides students gently and without pressure, always leaving room for their own interpretation, so that painting becomes not only a skill to learn but also a moment of pause within the rhythm of everyday life.
