# Joan Fullerton
*Award-winning educator, abstract-intuitive painter*

Joan Fullerton is a Colorado-based artist and internationally acclaimed artist educator who focuses on intuitive and expressive painting, being devoted to the upliftment of others. Her educator practice has at its core a non-judgmental approach, meant to build students’ confidence and encourage them to express themselves fully and authentically. After obtaining her MFA in Painting at the University of Wyoming, Joan Fullerton became an award-winning college art instructor. As her reputation grew, she widened her reach well beyond the studio and has been featured in several television interviews, painting blogs, magazine articles, and books. A few notable examples are Acrylic Artist Magazine (2017), Encyclopedia of Acrylic Painting Techniques (2017), Visual Journeys, Art of the 21st Century (2012), and Studio Visit, Vol. 12 (2012). Her most famous online art experience is “Paint Yourself Free” (2018-2020), a series of self-paced art workshops meant to teach students how to let loose, experiment, build up layers, and paint intuitively. Joan’s teachings are based on her belief that people are the most open to learning and creativity when they are having fun. Joan Fullerton has a fine art career of over 50 years, producing hundreds of artworks that have been exhibited in numerous museums and private collections, such as the Wyoming State Museum and the University of Wyoming Art Museum.
