# Heather Clements
*Artist, muralist, and interactive art-maker*

Heather Clements is an Asheville-based artist, muralist, and interactive art-maker known for creating art from what she calls "her inner-most weirdo." She is best known for her interactive, tactile approach to art-making, inspired by her connection to nature, her belief in art as a healing practice, and her drive to make creativity feel like a form of survival. Working primarily in watercolor, hand-cut paper, and mixed media, Heather creates interactive murals, artist books, and sketchbook-based work designed to turn viewers into participants. Her interactive coffee-table book, "Pull Me Apart," which invites readers to physically manipulate the work through pull tabs and spinning wheels, has earned her a devoted following and national press attention.

Heather has spent more than 16 years as a professional artist and art instructor, an experience that shapes everything she creates. A cum laude graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, she got her start as the owner of Gallery Above, an art gallery and cultural venue in Panama City, Florida, before devoting herself fully to making and teaching art. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the country, earning multiple Best in Show awards, and she's built a body of published work including "We Are Nature," "Pull Me Apart," and its forthcoming second volume. After surviving the destruction of Hurricane Michael and later Hurricane Helene, Heather turned rebuilding into part of her practice itself, and her story has been featured on HarmonyTALK, in High Fructose Magazine, and across regional press.

Heather regularly shares her creative process and interactive work through her studio at Kevin Andrew Studio and Gallery in Asheville's River Arts District, alongside her teaching at 310 Art and All Together Art. Her warm, exploratory approach is at the heart of everything she does, whether she's building a giant wooden wheel into a mural, engineering a pull-tab book, or guiding others toward a practice where art becomes a way of connecting, healing, and remembering we're all part of something bigger.
