# Grahame Booth

Grahame Booth is a watercolor artist and instructor known internationally for his impactful paintings built on soft washes and subtle shadows. Over the years, Grahame developed his signature impressionist style, in which he aims to capture the essence of the subject rather than precise details, believing that plein-air observation, sketching, and painting are key to success in this beautiful medium.

With no prior experience, Grahame started painting in his early 30s after driving his mother-in-law to an art class, where he was mesmerized by the process. He still remembers the difficulties and frustrations of learning watercolor, which have made him into a wonderful and sympathetic tutor, passing on lessons and techniques he learned over more than 20 years.

Grahame is an elected member of the Water Colour Society of Ireland (WCSI) and is the current President of the Ulster Watercolour Society. He has over 40,000 subscribers on his YouTube painting channel, where he frequently posts instructional video demonstrations. Over the years, Grahame has written 4 books and has contributed to many others. He is also a regular writer for "The Artist" and "Artists and Illustrators" magazines in the UK.

As an artist who has led workshops and outdoor demonstrations all over the world, from Europe to India and the USA, Grahame brings a global, empathetic teaching style, sharing the techniques he learned over the years. Whether in an online course or a live workshop, his goal is to help students find their style and to bring confidence in their brushstrokes as they aim to capture the atmosphere and essence of different subjects.
