# Emma Burnett
*Artist and painting instructor*

Emma Burnett is a contemporary British artist known for her bold use of color and her richly layered paintings of flowers and garden scenes. Working in acrylics and watercolor, she builds her compositions layer upon layer so that elements of color glimpse through from below, creating depth and a sense of joy on the canvas. Her work is deeply inspired by the great colorists, particularly Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse, Jules Cavaillès, and Ivon Hitchens, whose bold palettes and playful approach to light have shaped her own artistic voice.

Emma trained in Brighton, England and has been a professional painter since 2008. She teaches her popular color theory and color mixing courses at Bradness Gallery in the heart of the Sussex countryside, where she helps artists of all levels discover the power of intentional color mixing and learn to paint with confidence and freedom. Her work is held in private collections worldwide.

Together with Michael Cruickshank, Emma runs Bradness Gallery, which serves as both a working studio and exhibition space for their paintings. When she is not painting or teaching, you will likely find her planning which famous painting to copy next or mixing a new batch of those gorgeous ochres and dark greens that make her work sing.
