She has taught fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, English literature, literary theory, and women's studies at Yale, NYU, UVA, Drew, and Fordham, where she served as Writer-in-Residence for four years. She was also a faculty mentor in the BookEnds intensive novel-writing program at Stony Brook University, and she taught writing workshops at all levels at the Kauai Writers Conference and for Foreword Retreats in Chamonix and Arcachon. She is a recipient of several Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Fellowships and Writer-in-Residence Fellowships at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.Kline serves on the Board of Directors of the Authors Guild and Poets &amp; Writers, her most significant professional commitments. She sits on the Advisory Boards of the Montclair Literary Festival, the Kaua'i Writers Conference, and Roots &amp; Wings, and is a member of the Writers Council of the Center for Fiction.
